A little About Me
Hi! My name is Connor Young I am a Junior going to the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee majoring in computer science. I enjoy spending my free time indulging in my hobbies or hanging out with friends doing something fun. I’ve got 2 younger brothers back home who I’m always finding fun stuff to do with when I’m not in school. Aside from hobbies and hanging out I also enjoy kicking back, relaxing, and hopping on a video game from time to time.
Hobbies!
When if comes to hobbies I love to keep myself busy all the time. One thing I have stuck with pretty consistently since high school is working on programming from time to time. I enjoy making my own projects as well as ones that other people have started that I want to tweak to my own needs. More recently I also got into other things like robotics, 3D printing, and FPV (first-person-view) drones.
On the left here is a drone that I made myself. This is mainly one of my summer hobbies as it’ts one of the better times in the year to fly a drone out in the middle of a field. I’ve had a couple drones in the past but this one that I made is by far my favorite as not only is it fast but you also get to see and fly it from the drones perspective instead of watching from afar. It really does feel like you’re flying when you put the goggles on and just let it rip.
Above is a picture of a hexapod robot that I have been working on since winter break. All the parts were either sourced by me or 3D printed while I was working on some other project in the meantime. It was interesting to assemble this project as getting the old phone to do most of the thinking and controlling was a project in itself!
Games I enjoy
Video games are one of my favorite ways to blow off steam and reset at the end of the day aside from hobbies and hanging out with friends. Video games are one of my favorite ways to burn time
I enjoy many different genres of video games from time to time, but some of my favorites are games like Kerbal Space Program and Risk of Rain 2.
Risk of Rain 2 is an action packed rogue-like, while there are different modes it always gets more and more difficult as time goes on to keep you on your toes and always moving.
Kerbal Space Program at its core is about running your own space agency through trial and error, partaking in more in-depth and complex missions each time you launch. It starts you off slow with something simple like just taking flight and can get as crazy as you deciding to fly to and land on a different planet entirely, and if you really want a challenge trying to make it back home too.
